Aden Camp, 2 – 4 December 2007

A short follow up camp was held at the Ras Morbat Clinic for two days during which six patients were seen and five operated for cleft and complicated cosmetic surgeries of the face involving the nose and a tumour over the facial nerve.
 

One lady with a traumatic saddle nose deformity of the nose was operated for nasal bone reduction and a silicon implant nose job. Another young lady also received a cosmetic nasal correction for her cleft deformity using a septal graft. A patient with a parotid tumour on the right side of the face was also treated successfully after the growth was dissected away from the facial nerve.
 

A team of anesthetists headed by Associate Prof of Aden University, Dr.Raga Mosaid gave their free time for the camp. The consultant also had an in theatre teaching session for her junior colleagues. Two European nurses, Mary Hirst and Joeke along with a few local helpers were in charge of the theatre and small ward.
 

Overall, the clinic was a success .The small team was requested to come back again for another longer camp in the future and also help other patients in the Aden Univ hospital and the nearby region of Mocha.
